Unsuspecting Ways
06:10
|
|||
It is seams and laces, with stitches to moulds.
That hold us from breaking as we walk out in the cold.
When it is hard to tie together what has not torn apart,
All the fragile and silly ways of your unsuspecting heart,
Do not learn to let go.
Even if I can’t live here anymore.
It hurt me then, to love you now.
I touched on your veins, and held on somehow.
But no, don’t learn to let go, if I can’t call you my home.
No, don’t learn to let go, if I can’t live here anymore.
Think back to September seventeenth.
The day the kids crashed the bar.
As a song begins to sing, we are taking it back to the start.
But it is all torn apart.
And it is back to, and it is back to, back to the start.
Take it back to the start.

Midnight Avenue
04:28
|
|||
With a tear in your skirt, and a little novocain smile;
Your sweet red little lips pull me apart for a while.
I can tell by your walk, that little jump in your step;
You’re scratching an itch, I just ain’t found yet.
I want you to know, I want you to show.
These cold city streets, they just don’t know what to do.
And them stray cat blues, they ain’t got nothin’ on you.
So daddy’s little angel grew some wings of her own.
A Mephistopheles crown, and she carved it out of bone.
I want you to know, I want you to show.
The hair on my neck, well it jumps just to stand;
at a slide of your thigh, or a little wave of your hand.
I’ll tell you my secrets, all those dirtiest of needs.
You’ve got me coming home late, you’ve got me begging you please.
I want you to know, I want you to show.

Inside the Light
04:01
|
|||
What eyes could find what lies inside the light.
Two broken bodies join when hope is filled with spite.
If you were once a man of morals and the right,
then time has stolen all that is sacred from the night.
You held a love that lost and it never won again.
You’re running at such a cost, at a cost that was your friend.
But different beds can’t learn what different hearts will show.
This is not who you are, this is not what I want to know.
And I can’t find the light.
I can’t find the light in the night.
What water will not clean, it grows inside your mind.
Until the man you wished you were, is not what you can find.
So if a tree will stand all time when trust lay in its roots,
Than a man will fall with the wind if his lusts begets all chutes.
And I can’t find the light.
I can’t find the light in the night.

Love is Learned
03:56
|
|||
A river knows which way the waters run through,
When winter comes to pass and springs shines new.
As sun does climb from branch to stone,
The word of time will speak a language unknown.
Let this be shown, that life is given for love to be sewn.
Let this be known, that life is given for love to be shown.
Mothers love their children, this be true.
And fathers pass their time of present to you.
To breathe it in it wraps home to bone,
And starts the story of a family grown.
Let this be heard, that life is given for love to be learned.
That life is given, that love is learned.
That life is given, but love is learned.
Let this be heard, that life is given but love is learned.

Be the Change
05:19
|
|||
There are the busiest people living outside your door.
With a look on their face, just like the day before.
Is it fear of a change or a will for the same,
that is driving their cars and driving me insane?
I do not want to play the game.
Do we all feel the same?
So we build little boxes then we fill them with things.
I don’t need any toys; I do not want to be a king.
For the lights of the city never fade till dawn.
Like a moth to the flame is this where we have gone wrong?
It is wrong.
I do not want to play this game.
Do we all feel the same?
We all feel the change.

Broken Pictures
04:02
|
|||
Dust it off again and learn to try.
Tether your noose darling please do not cry.
For it is not the door but what is inside.
Let loose your hinges and what they hide.
This city that holds you, well, it breaks your heart.
Sealed up in the concrete, but it is cracked from the start.
There will come a time when it has gone away.
The crowded streets and hurried day.
For you are not the man that we once knew.
There was a change of heart to find what is true.
Now this city that holds you, it breaks your heart.
Sealed up in the concrete, that is cracked from the start.
As the night has grown older,
We have grown colder,
And hate has become bolder.
To those who fear loving,
All the pushing and shoving,
Learn to find your peace.
In love and in the trees.

Medicine Shows
03:54
|
|||
Taking turns on medicine shows.
Where this comes from god only knows.
God only knows.
You could not read but you knew how to write.
So books are your help in the dark of the night.
In the dark of the night.
Asking to change is not the end of it all,
For you started out running but now you’re begging to crawl.
Begging to crawl.
When terrible twos turned to terrible threes,
They never did stop now you’re down on your knees.
And you are screaming somebody please pick me up off my knees.
Won’t you pick me up?

For seven days and seven stormy nights,
I rode the railway yards through the city's’ bright lights.
But all at once, it came to go; I thought I knew.
I saw a change was in time and could watch it grow.
Into a land without the news and a road without wheels.
It lived in the wild, and I had to choose.
But nothing can last.
The good and bad and all must pass.
When I was young my mother said there is a love there is a life that can bleed,
or it can be led.
But as I grew I saw it leave.
I saw all people held by lust and they were trapped in greed.
And so I married up a wife and stole away into the woods to make a love,
and to make a life.
Where all things will grow.
If you accept that you do not know.
And all things will grow, where all things will grow.
Just accept that you do not know, and learn to let go.

Darkest Hour
03:56
|
|||
My tasteless poison is catching up with me.
Will it consume this lurid life?
I cannot see.
Tongue tied and tempered is where this city strums along.
Brought back from Hades, we all must find where we belong.
If the darkest hour meets the light
Why would I wake to know that you were right?
Hope holds me waiting for little footsteps ahead of ours.
Singing Petunia, we said goodnight to all those bars.
Now riptides of progress tare fortune's fools from liturgy.
Comprised of rubrics and different measures for chivalry
But in the darkest hour stands a light.
Why would I wake to know that you were right?
So if the darkest hour does hold the dawn,
Why would I wake to know that you were gone?
I am going to wake and know that you are gone.
